Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how ForeLeaf (“we,” “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the ForeLeaf mobile applications, the website at tryforeleaf.com, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).
By using the Service, you agree to the data practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information you provide directly
- Account info: name, email address, phone number, password, profile photo (optional), and account type (homeowner or service professional).
- Property and service address: the address(es) where services will be performed, along with optional notes (gate codes, pet warnings, parking instructions).
- Payment information: billing details processed by our payment provider. ForeLeaf does not store your full card number; we receive only a tokenized reference and the last four digits.
- Service preferences: services requested, scheduling preferences, recurring booking cadence, and any add-ons.
- Service professional onboarding: business name, license numbers, insurance certificates, banking information for payouts, and identity verification documents.
- Communications: messages you send through the in-app chat, support emails, and survey responses.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Location data: with your permission, we collect precise location while the app is in use to match you with nearby pros and to display live tracking during an active job. Service professionals share their location during active jobs.
- Device info: device model, operating system version, app version, language settings, and a unique device identifier.
- Usage data: pages viewed, features used, time spent, search terms, and interactions with notifications.
- Crash and diagnostic data: error reports and performance data collected through Sentry to help us fix bugs.
- Photos: before-and-after job photos captured by service professionals as proof of completion. Photos may also be attached to job requests by homeowners (for example, a photo of the work area).
1.3 Information from third parties
- Background checks: service professionals authorize ForeLeaf to receive background-check results from Checkr (or equivalent provider) before they may accept bookings.
- Identity verification: ID-document verification results from Persona (or equivalent).
- Payment processor: transaction and dispute status from our payment processor.
- Maps and routing: address validation and route data from Google Maps.
2. How we use information
- To create and operate your account, authenticate you, and provide the Service.
- To match homeowners with nearby service professionals and route bookings.
- To process payments, issue payouts, and handle refunds and disputes.
- To send transactional communications: booking confirmations, pro on-the-way alerts, schedule changes, receipts, password resets, and policy updates. These messages are required to deliver the Service and you cannot opt out while you have an active account.
- To send marketing or promotional messages, only if you have explicitly opted in. You can opt out at any time (see Section 8).
- To verify the eligibility, identity, and qualifications of service professionals through background checks and license verification.
- To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service.
- To improve the Service, develop new features, and analyze usage patterns in aggregate.
- To comply with legal obligations, court orders, and lawful requests from authorities.
3. SMS / text message consent (TCPA)
Marketing SMS (promotions, new-service announcements) is opt-in only and is sent only after a separate, affirmative consent during onboarding. You may revoke marketing-SMS consent at any time by replying STOP to any marketing message or by updating notification settings in the app.
4. How we share information
We share information only as described below. We do not sell your personal information.
- Between homeowners and matched service professionals: after a booking is accepted, the parties exchange first name, phone number (masked through our messaging proxy where possible), service address, photos, and in-app messages.
- Service providers and vendors: our payment processor, Twilio (SMS / messaging proxy), Postmark (transactional email), Checkr (background checks), Persona (identity verification), Sentry (crash reporting), Google Maps (geocoding and routing), and Amazon Web Services or Cloudflare (hosting and storage). Each receives only the minimum data needed to perform its function.
- Legal compliance: we may disclose information in response to a valid subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, property, or safety.
- Business transfers: if ForeLeaf is acquired, merged, or sells assets, your information may transfer to the acquirer subject to this Privacy Policy.
- With your consent: for any other purpose disclosed to you and to which you consent.
5. Data retention
We retain account information for as long as you have an active account, and for a reasonable period after account closure to comply with legal, tax, accounting, and dispute-resolution obligations. Job records, payment records, and dispute records are typically retained for seven (7) years. Background-check results are retained per Checkr’s policy and applicable law. You may request deletion of your account at any time (see Section 7).
6. Security
We use industry-standard security controls including TLS encryption in transit, encryption at rest for sensitive fields (tax-document numbers, password hashes), role-based access controls on internal systems, and audit logging. No system is perfectly secure; you are responsible for keeping your account password confidential and notifying us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.
7. Your choices and rights
- Access and correction: you can view and update most account information directly in the app. For other requests, email support@tryforeleaf.com.
- Deletion: you may request deletion of your account and associated personal data by emailing support@tryforeleaf.com. We may retain limited records as required by law (see Section 5).
- Marketing opt-out: unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in any marketing email, reply STOP to marketing SMS, or adjust notification preferences in the app.
- Push and location permissions: you can revoke push-notification and location permissions at any time in your device settings. Note that revoking location may make matching with nearby pros impossible.
- California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah residents have additional rights under state privacy laws including the right to know, the right to delete, the right to correct, and the right to opt out of certain processing. Submit requests to support@tryforeleaf.com.
8. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will delete it promptly.
9. International users
ForeLeaf operates exclusively in the United States. The Service is intended for users within the United States. By using the Service from outside the U.S., you acknowledge that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notice at least seven (7) days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after a change indicates acceptance.
